Canadian Plant-Based Packaging Company’s Revenues Jump 84% for Quarter, Canada Bans Single Use Plastics

By year 2021, all single-use plastics in Canada will become history. As the Canadian government shifts towards becoming more sustainable and socially responsible, Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has announced that single-use plastics will be banned in the entire country by 2021.

One company poised to benefit from this announcement is good natured® Products (TSX-V: GDNP), a Canadian based plant-based products and packaging company. The company offers over 100 plant-based packaging designs, 10 grades of bioplastic rollstock sheets and 30 home & business organization products available at many retail locations including London Drugs and Amazon.

There are significant business opportunities in the plastic sustainability industry, as plastics are the world’s largest material market. According to Prime Minister Trudeau, less than 10% of plastics in Canada are recycled, and by year 2030, over an estimated $11 billion worth of plastic materials will be thrown away, contributing to our littered shorelines, parks, and streets.

good natured®’s commitment to creating better everyday productsTM is exactly what’s needed to target this global plastic issue. Given that, the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has recognized the potential for good natured® by completing a $10M USD financial investment into the company to further its organic growth and expand their customer base and market reach. This shows massive potential for good natured® to become a successful publicly traded bioplastics company, especially with the upcoming plastics ban in 2021.

Despite this recent injection of capital by the BDC, the company since its inception has shown incredible organic growth and in their Q1 financials reported an 84% growth in revenues compared to the previous year. The company continues to be a leader in the industry with one of the largest product offerings and continues to innovate and launch new packaging and products. good natured® has a disrupted technology/formula that has the ability to bring meaningful change to the world’s largest materials market.

With its new secured financial position, good natured® should be able to continue to sign new customers and establish itself as the go-to North American bioplastic company. For investors looking at companies that can capitalize on sustainability trends in retail, good natured® is poised for significant sales and market capitalization growth.
